LANDING IN SICILY

Come to visit the key sites of the Landing in Sicily. Visit a region full of History. Walk on the beaches of the landing and follow the routes the Allied covered during their advance towards Ponte Primosole. Visit the Plain of Gela between Monte Zai and Piano Lupo, the hills of Ponte Dirillo and the areas of Ponte Olivo and Santo Pietro which once hosted two military airfields. Visit the now abandoned naval and air batteries, the numerous bridges, theatres of strategic operations, and experience the fascination of the ancient military airport at Augusta, with its unique blimp hangar and hydroplane station. More than 15 different sites are included from Portopalo to Catania, going through Syracuse and Augusta. A vast territory from the sea up to the mountains, between orange trees and wonderful beaches. A journey through military archaeology following hundreds of small bunkers (pillboxes) spread all over and over the entire trip. LO SBARCO IN SICILIA

Visita i luoghi dello Sbarco in Sicilia. Visita una terra ricca di Storia. Cammina sulle spiagge dello sbarco e ripercorri le strade seguite dagli Alleati durante la loro avanzata sino a Ponte Primosole. Visita la Piana di Gela tra Monte Zai e Piano Lupo, gli ormai scomparsi aeroporti di Ponte Olivo e Santo Pietro e le colline di Ponte Dirillo. Visita le batterie navali ed aeree ormai abbandonate, i numerosi ponti teatro di operazioni strategiche e subisci il fascino del vecchio aeroporto militare di Augusta (Hangar per dirigibili ed idroscalo). In tutto più di 15 siti differenti tra Portopalo e Catania, passando per Siracusa ed Augusta. Un vasto territorio tra mare e montagna, tra agrumeti e splendide spiagge. Un viaggio attraverso l’archeologia militare di centinaia di piccoli bunker disseminati lungo tutto il percorso ed oltre. Rimasti da decenni in ogni luogo e simbolo di una tragica unità della memoria. Una memoria archeologica. Un bunker archeologico.
